A Day of Reflection

Upper School Museum of Tolerance Trip

On Wednesday, January 11, 165 Upper School learners visited the Museum of Tolerance to kick off an advisory and art project. Feedback from the museum was that the docents were impressed by not only the behavior of the learners, but also their engagement. As we reflected in advisory, many learners spoke how the tour helped them better understand the Holocaust. Although many had studied the subject in history, partaking on the field study put a human face to the devastation. The learners also learned about racism and tolerance. The next step in our project is to delve deeper into the topic of tolerance and how it applies to our community in order to answer the driving question: How can we fortify our Upper School culture utilizing TEAM (Tolerance, Empathy, Action, Multiculturalism) foundations? and for Art: Through a three-dimensional art piece, how can I expose an injustice or a cause that inspires passion in me?
