Innovation Studios Corner

Hello families,

We are excited for the 10th annual Multicultural Celebration on Friday. Please see the information in the blurb above for information about what dishes to contribute and how to volunteer.  See you Friday!

We are looking for a variety of vendors to sell their creative holiday gifts at SCVi’s Annual Winter Boutique on Saturday, Dec. 9, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.!

We are very excited to announce that the SCVi Annual Winter Boutique is being held in the SCVi Theatre this year, which will allow for much more space and an even larger variety of vendors!

If you or someone you know is interested in participating in this great winter event, please go to the link below to complete your vendor registration and payment. (We are also accepting payment by check or cash in the iLEAD Foundation office located at 28050 Hasley Canyon Road, Castaic, CA. 91384)

I have been sharing Innovation Studios folders with you and your learners during weekly check-ins. As an independent study program, we need to collect work samples for each learning period. Please check in with your child to see what they have collected so far. We have just finished our second learning period.

Learners, please remember to be at our weekly check-ins!

In Advisory (Mondays from 1 to 1:50), we are still exploring the book “Ignite Your Spark.”  Right now we are reading Chapter 7, which is about defining dreams. We are watching the documentary (in pieces) “The Dream Share Project.” I have attached the link to the trailer here

I have asked the learners to bring a photo of themselves next Monday.  The photo needs to be from preschool years-middle school and preferably showing them doing something they love, showing imagination, playing, etc. I WOULD LIKE TO USE THE PHOTOS UNTIL WINTER BREAK. PLEASE SEND IN A COPY OR THE ORIGINAL (I won’t keep it) SO THAT WE CAN POST IT ON OUR “DREAM CATCHER” BOARD.

10th graders are continuing to work on their personal projects and crafting their driving questions. Here are some of the topics:

-Raising chickens for profit

-Training a dog to hunt

-Working on app development for digital streaming

-Becoming a piano composer

-Sports psychology

-Volunteering with animals

Can’t wait to see their final projects!

Dates to remember:

  • Nov. 15 – Personal Project Workshop 10:00-11:00
  • Nov. 20-24: Thanksgiving Break
  • Nov. 29 – End of 3rd Learning Period
  • Dec. 18-Jan. 5 – Winter Break

With gratitude,

Malaka Donovan
