IB News

It cannot have escaped your attention that exam season is here, and we are all working to ensure that your learners have the most successful experience possible. I know that it is a stressful time; I’ve seen over ten years’ worth of IB learners through their exams, and each time I feel the same sense of anticipation, pride, and nervousness for all of the learners. I have met with the seniors and given them their individual timetables, and talked them through the exam process. It’s a formal exam, so no phones or devices are allowed. Learners must arrive at least 10 minutes before the start of the exams, which will all be held in the Pickford room at the Upper School. Latecomers may not be permitted to enter.
Please encourage learners to be well rested the night before, and to eat a healthy breakfast or lunch, depending on the time of the exam. If there are any further questions or clarifications that you or your learner need, please ask away or drop into my office. There will be no opportunity to make up these exams, as they are set externally by the IBO.

Finally, while these exams are important, we should remember that exam grades don’t define us. Not everything that counts can be counted, and not everything that is counted counts. The qualities of resilience, time management, and self-reflection have been developed in our learners through the breadth and rigor of the course, and it is these skills that will support them through their lives.
