Dear learners and families,
We hope this week’s Monday Message finds you all first and foremost healthy! I would like to express my personal gratitude to each and every member of the SCVi school community. We have an incredibly collaborative team that came together in under 48 hours to create a plan to move our entire site-based program online. Behind the scenes, the technology team and iLEAD Online had been working diligently for two weeks to ensure as smooth of a transition for our facilitators and learners as possible. Nonetheless, as we all enter new territory together, we will need to have a growth mind-set and practice the 7 Habits together, thinking win-win, seeking first to understand, and finding moments to “sharpen the saw” (rest). We know our community is united and up for the challenge. Regardless of what has been thrown at us, this school year our team and our families have been resilient in their dedication to our community, and we have persevered to continue providing our learners with an extraordinary learning experience. Thank you all!
It is absolutely invigorating to see how much our entire team (including our facilitators, every member of our out of classroom staff, and our leadership) has achieved in such a short time. A special thank-you to Ms. Toval and Dr. B for their determination and grit in working collaboratively with our Executive Team in rolling out all the changes that had to happen. Thank you to every member of our entire SCVi team for being so incredibly dedicated as everyone has been working around the clock to create our new systems for online learning, dispersing technology to learners, sanitizing the school and preparing to provide free breakfast and lunch to learners while the site is closed.
So now what is going to happen? As we all know, this is a new experience for all of us and we as a school community must work together. As we begin with the end in mind, our goal is to provide as much stability and routine for our learners as possible. All of our facilitators are working to provide structure for your children with their online learning studios that will also continue to ensure engaging and rigorous learning. We are aware that our temporary site closure creates enormous stress and hardship for all, especially for our working parents. Please understand that this is in the best interest of our entire community. We are all working together with our iLEAD Executive Team and the local and state health authorities to ensure that we are being as proactive as possible to keep everyone healthy. We can ensure you that we have already had professional cleaners disinfect our entire school campus with Signet Neutral Disinfectant, a product that is certified to kill CV19. We will continue to have our campus disinfected regularly.
Thank you for your constant support and understanding in this challenging time. As we know the needs of our learners vary by age and grade level, so we ask that you work with your children to read all emails from their grade-level team of facilitators. Each grade-level team is creating an online learning program through the Echo and/or PowerSchool Learning platforms that we hope will be most beneficial to continue your child’s education while our site is closed.
Of course, we all hope that this nationwide crisis is resolved as soon as possible, so we can return to our “normal” day-to-day lives, but until then know that we are all in this together and we will continue providing the love and learning that brings us all together.
Please feel free to stay in close communication with all of us here at SCVi by contacting your child’s facilitator/s for online-coursework-specific questions or our leadership team for other concerns. We will continue to share any changes or updates as quickly as we can. Thank you all for your continued trust and support and for being part of the SCVi family.
With gratitude,
Nessa Roffredo and the SCVi Leadership Team
