Celebrating the Success of SCVi’s 7th & 8th Grade Identity Presentation of Learning
On Thursday, March 6, SCVi’s 7th and 8th graders took center stage with their Identity Presentation of Learning (POL)—a powerful culmination of self-reflection, storytelling, and literary connections.
Theme: Exploring Identity & Personal Growth Through Literature
Purpose: Learners explored the experiences, challenges, and defining moments that shape who they are, using literature as a lens to understand their own journeys.
Novel Studies & Identity Connections:
7th Grade: The Giver: Learners examined individuality, free will, and the cost of conformity through Lois Lowry’s dystopian world. Their personal narratives reflected on moments where they felt different, questioned societal norms, or gained new perspectives.
8th Grade: The Outsiders: Inspired by S.E. Hinton’s classic, learners explored belonging, social divides, and self-perception. Their essays and artifacts symbolized struggles they’ve overcome, the groups they identify with, and the resilience that defines them—just like Ponyboy’s journey of self-discovery.
Artifacts & Personal Essays:
Learners showcased deeply personal artifacts that visually represented their identity, from cultural connections and family history to symbols of personal growth and perseverance. Their narrative essays brought their experiences to life, sharing raw, heartfelt moments that shaped their perspectives.
A Night of Reflection & Empowerment
This event was more than a presentation—it was a powerful celebration of student voices, courage, and self-expression. Through their words, artifacts, and reflections, our learners demonstrated the importance of embracing who we are, recognizing where we come from, and honoring the journey ahead.
A huge thank-you to our learners, families, and educators who made this Identity Presentation of Learning such a meaningful and unforgettable experience!
