Exciting Changes for 8th Graders at SCVi!
Big news for SCVi’s incoming 8th graders! This year, 8th graders will transition to the upper school campus, where they’ll be taught by our expert upper school facilitators. This move is designed to increase academic rigor and provide a seamless transition to high school.
Here’s what you can expect:
- Access to High School Facilities: 8th graders will be taking their classes on the upper school campus and will be taught by the upper school facilitators.
- Specialized Instruction: 8th graders will benefit from single subject (content area experts) teachers and high school facilities. This will increase rigor and build relationships with upper school staff.
- Dedicated Restrooms: For their comfort and privacy, 8th graders will have their own designated restrooms, separate from high school learners.
- Familiar Recess & Lunch: To maintain a sense of community and continuity, 8th graders will continue to have their recesses and lunches on the lower school playground. They will not have open campus privileges.
- Upper School Spirit Participation: While 8th graders won’t be in classes with high school learners, they’ll still get to experience upper school spirit by participating in upper school spirit competitions!
- Upper School Orientation & Registration: 8th graders will participate in upper school orientation (Thurs., 8/7) instead of lower school Meet the Facilitators Night (Mon., 8/11).
We’re confident these changes will provide an inspiring and seamless transition for our 8th graders as they prepare for high school at SCVi.
