The Guilford Difference: Values and Academics

Guilford’s unique approach is rooted in its Quaker heritage and guided by seven Core Values: Community, Diversity, Equality, Excellence, Integrity, Justice, and Stewardship.

  • Hands-On Learning: The school emphasizes that experiential learning adds immeasurably to classroom work. Students engage in hands-on learning, and the faculty, staff, and students are all on a first-name basis, creating a truly collaborative environment.
  • The Guilford Edge: This innovative general education program for traditional students emphasizes team-based, interdisciplinary projects where students explore their passions.
  • Academic Calendar: The year follows a 14-week Fall term, followed by a 14-week Spring term, which includes a 3-week Spring Term (3-3 Spring) dedicated to an intensive course or an off-campus experience, such as spending a semester in a 12th-century castle in the Italian Alps!
  • Strong Programs: Popular majors include Biology, Business Administration, Community and Justice Studies, Criminal Justice, Exercise and Sport Sciences, Psychology, Religious Studies, and Sport Management.

Financial and Campus Highlights

  • Guaranteed Scholarship: Guilford promises to award every first-time applicant an automatic scholarship of at least $15,000 (up to $27,000 based on GPA) and guarantees tuition will not increase over the 4 years.
  • Housing Grant: Every student who lives on campus receives a $4,000 housing grant.
  • Unique Campus: The 350-acre campus includes a farm, a lake, meadows, and 300-year-old trees. Produce grown on the farm is served in the Dining Hall!
  • Community Vibe: With over 50 clubs and organizations, students describe the atmosphere as stimulating and supportive. A beloved tradition is Serendipity, a week-long celebration of spring with performances, free food, and a formal dance.
  • The popular Guilford Mantra is: “How are you going to change the world?”
