Shakespeare Comes Alive for SCVi at Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum

3-12 Shakespeare Field Trip 5.2025 SCVi

Forty SCVi learners (grades 3-12) and 10 adults recently embarked on an unforgettable performing arts field trip to the enchanting Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum. This unique experience immersed them in the world of Shakespeare, beginning with an engaging, interactive workshop. This wasn’t just observation; the workshop featured a lively living history improv segment that invited learners to step onto the stage and collaborate directly with the professionals!

Learners also enthusiastically participated in peer-to-peer activities, discovering the elegance of historical dances from Shakespeare’s time and even learning some fun stage-acting stunt techniques.

The day culminated in the magic of live theatre as they watched professional actors bring “Much Ado About Nothing” to life under the open sky.

For many, this was their first encounter with Shakespeare performed live, leaving them deeply impressed by the actors’ talent and the collaborative spirit of a diverse, multigenerational company.

Witnessing the power of live performance firsthand, this field trip sparked inspiration and a newfound appreciation for the timeless art of Shakespeare!
