VIDEO: SCVi Senior Receives NAACP Scholarship

SCVi could not be more proud of senior, Marcus Doyle, who has been attending SCVi for 13 years and is one of the graduating seniors who has been a part of SCVi since kindergarten. Marcus is the recipient of a scholarship from the NAACP of Santa Clarita, to further his education beyond graduation from SCVi. Along with four other Santa Clarita high school seniors, Marcus was honored at an awards ceremony held at the College of the Canyons University Center on March 26.

Having been a professional actor since he was a child, Marcus and his mom, Tawn, have always been grateful for SCVi’s support if Marcus needed to take a day away from the classroom to work as an actor. Marcus intends to pursue a career in film, having applied to both Grand Canyon University and the American Film Institute.

On what it means to Marcus to have been honored by the Santa Clarita NAACP for this scholarship award: “I really appreciate the diversity that the NAACP supports, and the opportunity they provide for BIPOC students to further their education through this scholarship.”

Marcus has been part of in IB Theatre at SCVi, and facilitator,Kevin Becker’s response to hearing the notification was, “In the years I have known Marcus he has always been someone who can be counted on to step up, take leadership, and support his friends and classmates through every step! I could not think of a more deserving young person for this honor!”
