We understand that we’re different here at SCVi! Some terminology that we use has become second nature to those that have been part of the team for years, while some of you newly onboard may be shaking your heads wondering what we’re talking about. We hope to inform you weekly about our culture and terminology to help guide you through your time here at SCVi.

This week: Got Books? Good Reads & Resources

We truly believe that we are all continuing our education, and that we should NEVER stop learning or lose our desire to learn.  The greatest help to bridge home and school is to have our parents fully engaged along with our learners. Please add a few of these books to your library to help you along your journey navigating your child’s education.  Fall break is coming and what’s better than some down time and a good book?

iLEAD is excited to continue our Schoolwide Learner Outcomes series. Our November focus is Authenticity. This article has several tips to help you foster authenticity in your child: “Celebrating Authenticity: Nurturing Your Child’s True Self.”

What are Schoolwide Learner Outcomes?

At iLEAD, we believe that education should extend beyond traditional academic knowledge. Our purposeful approach revolves around the iLEAD Schoolwide Learner Outcomes, a collective vision that encapsulates our aspirations for each individual’s education.

The iLEAD Schoolwide Learner Outcomes serve as our compass, guiding us in shaping each child’s educational journey.

In the course of a child’s career with iLEAD Schools, our learners will engage with a relevant and rigorous curriculum that will prepare them for success personally and professionally.

The following are the expected Schoolwide Learner Outcomes that our learners develop:

This weekend, 8th graders took their first glider flights!

Tapping into our curiosity about flight, iLEAD Student Aerospace Projects’ Soaring Aeronautics Project answers the question “How do things fly?” and introduces learners to the forces described by Newton and Bernoulli.

Through this project, learners use the engineering design process to fabricate and launch their own gliders, interact with a full-scale glider, learn from glider pilots about flight controls and aerodynamics, and fly a glider!

Preflight training on simulators supports the development of flight and navigation skills. The history of flight, anatomy of birds, current experimental gliders, and meteorology are woven in to extend and enhance knowledge, giving meaning to research and writing.

Special thanks to Skylark North Glider Flight School for hosting and guiding the learners!

Inspiring Lifelong Learners at SCVi: Embracing Curiosity and Academic Excellence

At SCVi, our mission is to ignite a passion for learning that lasts a lifetime. By fostering each student’s innate curiosity and wonder, we empower them to meet rigorous academic standards and spark a lifelong love of learning.

Incorporating California Content Standards

To provide a comprehensive and challenging education, we adhere to the California content standards across all core subjects, including English language arts, mathematics, history-social science, science, arts, and more. Our curriculum is designed to meet and exceed these standards, ensuring that learners are well prepared for future academic endeavors and real-world challenges.

The Joy of Learning

At the heart of SCVi’s educational philosophy is the belief that learning should be joyful and engaging. We strive to create an environment where learners feel excited to explore new ideas and confident in their ability to succeed. This joy of learning is cultivated through personalized, project-based learning (PBL) and support from highly qualified credentialed educators as well as mentorship from industry experts.

Emphasizing Lifelong Learning

The ultimate goal of our educational approach is to inspire learners to become lifelong learners. We want our learners to leave SCVi with the skills, knowledge, and mindset needed to continue exploring, questioning, and growing throughout their lives. By integrating California state standards with innovative teaching practices and a focus on the joy of learning, we inspire our learners to stay curious, embrace lifelong learning, and make a positive impact on the world around them.
