SCVi, iLEAD's Founding School

SCVi learners collage

Dear families,

Being “in the red” now has an entirely new connotation! Congratulations, everyone! Let’s all continue to stay safe by following the health and safety guidelines to ensure we will continue our on-campus hybrid learning program!

We are reinvigorated with excitement as we share that we had another successful week of learners returning to school in our hybrid program. This past week, a year after the pandemic began, our K/1 and 2/3 learners had their first day at school. We anticipate our Spanish Dual Immersion facilitators, Ms. Laura & Ms. Maria, will be able to join us from Barcelona, Spain, in the next few weeks, but until then our learners will continue to learn as participants of the global learning world.

This week we welcome back our upper elementary school learners! Our 2/3 and 4/5 classes will be back on campus and into the Rain Forest and Mountain room. Some learners will begin meeting each other and their facilitators for the first time in person after learning together virtually since August! Welcome back to you all!

We are also hosting our WASC Visiting Team this week, from Sunday through Wednesday. We can’t wait to share our school programs and practices with our visiting team. WASC accreditation is a process that schools use to monitor student learning and to set school-improvement goals. ACS WASC accreditation is an ongoing cycle of quality. Schools assess their programs and the impact on student learning with respect to the ACS WASC criteria and other accreditation factors. What this means is that we are able to complete a self-study highlighting our “glows and grows,” where we demonstrate what we are already very proud of doing well as well as share where we know we want to continue growing.

We will also host a Back to School Informational Session Wednesday, March 17, at 5:00 PM for our middle school learners and families this week, so please be on the lookout for a separate email via ParentSquare for the Zoom link. As long as Los Angeles County continues to stay “in the red,” we will also be welcoming our middle and upper school learners back to campus the week of March 29. Our entire team has been working hard behind the scenes not only providing distance learning but also preparing our school for a safe and seamless transition back to campus.

Panorama Education Survey

We value your feedback! We are currently surveying SCVi families to gain insight into your perception of our school’s effectiveness.

To conduct our Family Survey, we have partnered with Panorama Education, who safeguard your privacy, keeping your responses confidential. The survey shouldn’t take more than a few minutes to complete. Your feedback will be a valuable source of information for us as we work to make SCVi as effective as it can be in our mission to prepare each child to be a lifelong learner and leader in the 21st century.

You may complete the survey online through March 31 using a computer, tablet, or smartphone by clicking on the link that was sent to the email address we have on file for your family. Please check your email, including your spam folder, for the message from Panorama Education.

Note: The specific language you will read in the survey is not customized to our iLEAD language (for example, “student” will be used instead of “learner” and “teacher” will be used instead of “facilitator”). Since this is a nationally normed survey, no changes could be made to the specific language in the questions.

Thank you in advance for your thoughtful responses. If you have any questions about the survey administration, please don’t hesitate to contact us at info@scvi-k12.org.

Thank you all for your continued support.

Yours in unity,

The SCVi Leadership Team

Nessa Roffredo, Director, Lower School
