Exciting news! Acclaimed playwright, screenwriter, and actor Lally Katz is coming to SCVi!
SCVi’s Theater Production and Stage Management CTE Pathway and IB Language and Literature learners will be treated to a special presentation by Lally Katz, an original and sought-after writer. Her work has been described “as if The Simpsons was written by Tennessee Williams” (Sydney Morning Herald).
- Date: October 16
- Time: 8:30 AM
- Location: SCVi’s Shakespeare Theatre
About Lally Katz:
- Screenwriter for FX, Showtime, ABC Signature Studios, and Hulu’s The Great
- Written over 50 professionally produced plays, which have been staged in London, New York City, Mexico City, Dublin, and Delhi
- Award-winning libretto writer for Opera Australia’s The Rabbits
- Playwright for Malthouse, Belvoir, and Melbourne Theatre Company
What our learners will gain from this presentation:
- Learners will use their course standards and project ideas to prepare questions for Lally.
- Theater Production and Stage Management CTE Pathway learners will apply skill and knowledge in acting, directing, design, and composition to create formal and informal (improvised) theater, film, video, and electronic media performances, and they will explore the connection between artistic preparation and professional standards and practices.
- IB learners will explore firsthand how a professional writer writes, makes adaptations for social media, TV/screen, and other. They’ll also explore how the seven IB concepts – communication, creativity, perception/perspective, identity, transformation, culture, and representation – and context influence writers.
We’re excited to present our SCVi CTE and IB Language and Literature learners with this incredible opportunity to learn from a master storyteller!
