Project Assessors Needed

Dear iLEAD Staff, Parents, and Community Partners,

SCVi’s 10th Grade Personal Project represents a significant body of work produced over a period of one year. It is a process of personal learner-driven initiative and should reflect their experience and passion. The personal project is a very important milestone of the SCVi Upper School experience. It provides an excellent opportunity for learners to engage in a truly creative process of their choice that allows them to demonstrate the skills they have gained during the process. The personal project consists of:

1) a process journal,

2) an outcome or product, and

3) a report

It provides an opportunity for learners to select a topic or theme about which they are enthusiastic, and to show commitment to the completion of their own project. It is designed to assess their ability to organize and create. Entrepreneurialism, ingenuity, creativity, determination, and innovation are important aspects of the personal project.

Learners spend the first part of the year creating a driving question and finalizing their goal for their final products. Then they conduct research, consult a mentor who is an expert in a field related to their Personal Project topic, write a process paper, journal and photo-document their experiences, complete their final product, create a presentation, and finally, present their project to a panel of two or three  assessors on Personal Project Reveal Day.

This year’s Personal Project Reveal Day is April 25th. An all-day event in The Shakespeare Theater, learners set up their project boards in the theater and are available to answer questions from parents and other learners over the course of the day. Learners will also present their projects on stage to the assessors one by one in ten-minute increments.

We are currently seeking volunteers to serve as assessors for Personal Project Reveal Day. The time commitment for each shift is approximately two hours. Assessor responsibilities include:

IMPORTANT NOTES:

Please consider volunteering to be an assessor on Personal Project Reveal Day. If you are interested, you can sign up for one or more shifts (CLICK HERE). Personal Project Process Papers will be made available to you electronically by April 7th.

Thank you for considering this opportunity to help make Personal Project Reveal Day a success for our learners. Your time and attention are greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Jodi Haines Blinn
