We are very fortunate to have been given a number of tickets to see a new, exciting immersive rendition of Shakespeare’s classic tragedy Macbeth this Halloween, October 31, 2019.
The performance is being produced by the Shakespeare Centre of Los Angeles, an esteemed organization that produces three to four Shakespearean works a year and is supported by such luminaries as Tom Hanks. We’re particularly excited that this production has been designed by a former Disney Imagineer and is a walk-around immersive event!
The performance takes place at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 31, and has a run time of around 90 minutes. We will depart from SCVi just before lunch at 11:30 a.m. on buses to downtown Los Angeles and return at approximately 5:00 p.m. Due to the generosity of the Shakespeare Centre of LA and iLEAD winning a Los Angeles County Arts Advancement grant, we’re delighted to tell you that there will be no cost for this production. However, your learner will need to take a sack lunch.
Due to the limited allocation of tickets, theatre learners and English learners studying the text have been selected to attend. These classes are as follows:
- Ms. Sena’s Senior IB English
- Ms. Neall’s Junior IB English
- Mr. Johnston’s IB Theatre
- Mr. Becker/Cordy Dwyer’s Drama 2 and Drama 1 (3 classes)
We understand that some of our learners come from the Los Angeles area by bus to school. Since we will not get back in time to take the daily school bus back, we are looking into taking a minivan in addition to the school bus to enable us to hopefully arrange a suitable drop-off point on the way back to SCVi for those learners who would normally be on the school bus home at 3:30 p.m.
If, for any reason, your learner cannot attend, please notify Ian Johnston so we can offer the ticket to other interested learners in the school community. If you have any questions about the trip, logistics, or performance, please email Ian: ian.johnston@ileadschools.org.
