Relay Recess

On Friday, June 10, SCVi will be participating in Relay Recess, an educational event and fund-raiser benefiting cancer research. This event will take place at Castaic Lake from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. We are asking that all learners be dropped off at Castaic Lake Park.

Drop-off and pickup will be conducted in a valet system. Please drop off and pick up your child in Parking Lot 7. This is an annual school event and attendance will be taken at the park. While it is optional for the learners to raise funds, this is an opportunity for our learners to connect with their community and work together for a common goal. We encourage all of our SCVi families and members of the community to attend.

As we are limited on transportation, we ask that you drop your learner off at the lake as early as 8:00 a.m. and pick up your learner at 12:30 p.m. We highly encourage carpooling as there will be a check-in process and we expect the car lines to be long.

Learners will spend the day walking for cancer research. There will be food trucks and crafts to purchase to help raise money for the American Cancer Society. Please have your learner bring dollars if they are interested in purchasing some crafts for charity. SCVi family and friends are welcome to join us as we take time to pay tribute and celebrate those who’ve been affected by cancer. This will be a spirited day with games, crafts, and exercise. Each grade level will have a superhero-themed booth that will serve as a fund-raiser for the American Cancer Society. We can use additional volunteers to help lead these stations. If you plan to volunteer, please contact your child’s facilitator ASAP in order to get free parking.

We are hoping that each learner can raise at least $5. We are all excited and eagerly anticipating this event! If you are a survivor of cancer or know a survivor who would like to participate in our Survivor Walk portion of the event, please contact Emilie Evenson or Alexa Hale.

To make this event spectacular, we’re asking families for a helping hand. We would appreciate donations of water bottles or usage of easy-up canopies or portable tables. We need a total of 10 canopies. Please contact us if you would like to contribute.
Please note, the weather may be hot, so remember to have your child wear cool clothes, comfortable shoes, sunscreen and bring a water bottle.

If you have any questions, please give us a call.
