Message from the Leadership Team

Hello SCVi Families and Friends,

Ask any educator which part of the school year can be the most challenging, most will say, “spring! ” As we gain an hour of daylight this week and evolve into warmer days, our learners’ minds fight not to steal a few extra moments of window imagination. Thankfully, we are a community that embraces the moments of temporary mental vacations!

We need your help — we need to keep more of our learners imagining out their school window. SCVi is struggling to keep our daily attendance at 95 percent, the public school average. We want our learners to keep perfecting their learning and social/emotional stride! Elementary learners in their foundational years (K-3rd) who miss an average of two school days per month, run a much higher risk of falling behind in reading. Learners who attend school daily, are four times more likely to graduate high school and attend college, in addition to pursuing a postgraduate degree.

As moms, we know there are truly legitimate reasons for learners to miss school. For example, we celebrate keeping sick kiddos home! We look forward to seeing our learners every day. We are asking for your partnership to keep our learners, learning.

Have a wonderful week,

Lisa Latimer, Kimberly Matthes, Elsa Williamson, Nicole Padovich and Malaka Donovan
