Monday message 05.04.2020

Hello, learners and families,

It’s hard to believe it’s already May, and we are entering the proverbial home stretch of the school year! As you know, we’ll continue for the remainder of the school year in our virtual learning program while still providing creative, out-of-the-box ways to provide our end-of-the-year activities, including prospective family tours, High School for a Day, High School Information Night, Kinder Catch a Rising Star, MAP assessments, Learner Showcases, and graduating Class of 2020 activities. Also, our grading plan is being finalized, so please be on the lookout for an email with that information in the next week.

We’re excited to share that virtual MAP assessments will be available online throughout the month of May. We want to encourage all learners to participate from the comfort of their own homes and demonstrate the growth they’ve made since December, as well as while in our virtual platform. As you know, MAP assessments work as benchmarks of individual learner growth throughout the year. Please encourage your child to do their best and know this is their opportunity to demonstrate what they’ve learned throughout the year. Please be on the lookout for your child’s individual MAP assessment dates from their facilitator.

Finally, we have shared a brief survey to gain insight into your perception of our school’s effectiveness during distance learning. We need your feedback in order to continually improve in our mission to provide high-quality learning experiences that meet the needs of our lifelong learners. To conduct our Family Distance Learning Survey, we have partnered with Panorama Education, who safeguard your privacy, keeping your responses confidential. The survey will be open through May 11 and shouldn’t take more than a few minutes to complete. Thank you in advance for your valuable responses. If you did not see it, please search for the email subject line “Request for Feedback sent from Panorama Education.”

Thank you for your continued support, patience, and flexibility as we navigate distance learning together. Please contact us at leadership@scvi-k12.org with any questions or concerns.

With gratitude,

The SCVi Leadership Team
Dr. Buono, Upper School Director

Ms. Roffredo, Lower School Director
Mrs. Toval, Leadership Resident
