Innovation Middle School Holds First POL

Innovation Studios Middle School had their first presentation of learning last week! Learners explored the driving question, “Who are you when no one is looking?” Learners went through a social-emotional process to identify their passions and talents  to create an ACT of Change.

Learners expressed themselves through art, music, film, games, essays, infographs and photography to inspire a change and awareness of something that they were passionate about. Some of the topics the learners presented on were: Lookism, Syrian refugee crisis, Ableism, happiness and more. Innovation learners demonstrated compassion and empathy through their personal expressions. They also decided to sponsor a young child in Africa.

Here are some of things that the learners expressed about this project:

“I had a blast with this project. I had the opportunity to explore my passions! I think the project went REALLY well because I think we all learned a lot. I think I grew more social emotionally.”
– Samuel Watcher

“I really enjoyed this project. I enjoyed digging deep and showing people about who I am when no one is looking. I liked how we were able to choose what direction we wanted to take our project in. Overall I really liked this project and I learned a lot from it.”
– Chloe Williams

“I loved the experience with the project and I feel that it went really good. It was so much fun and I felt really comfortable with it! I learned a lot and I think I grew as a learner.”
