  • Tuesday: Hometown Heroes Day: Dress for success as if you’re going to a job interview or starting your first day of work! Dress-up ideas: professional business attire (suits, dresses, ties)Show your best “interview-ready” look: blazers, button-down shirts, slacks
  • Wednesday: Arts & Entertainment Day: Embrace your inner artist or entertainer! Celebrate the world of music, theater, film, and visual arts. Dress-up ideas: musicians, actors, directors, costumes from famous films or plays
  • Thursday: Dream Career Day: Dress as the career of your dreams! Show off where you see yourself in the future! Dress-up ideas: Future careers such as veterinarians, astronauts, CEOs, and chefsInventive or unique dream jobs—whatever inspires you!
  • Friday: Dress to Impress Day: Honor the everyday heroes in your community! Dress-up ideas: firefighters, EMTs, police officers, health care workers, educators, military personnel, lawyers, and blue-collar workers

Outline for National Career Development Week November 11-15

Throughout the week, we will engage in a variety of interactive activities and presentations aimed at empowering learners to think about their futures and career goals. Here’s what to expect each day:

Monday: Kickoff & Career Exploration

  • Introduction to Career Week: Overview of goals and activities.
  • Interest Surveys & Career Mapping: Learners complete surveys to explore career paths matching their interests.

Tuesday: Hometown Heroes Day

  • Local Career Insights: Police officers, firefighters, health care workers, and more will discuss their roles and contributions.
  • Interactive Q&A: Learners have the opportunity to ask questions and learn about essential community careers.

Thursday: Arts, Entertainment, & Media

  • Spotlight on Creativity: Explore careers in visual arts, music, film, and digital media.
  • Workshop: Hands-on activities for learners to experience media production and creative processes.

Friday: Dream Career Day & Reflection

  • Dress for Success: Learners are encouraged to dress in attire representing their dream career.
  • Reflection & Goal-Setting: Learners reflect on their learnings and set short-term goals to help them move toward their career interests.
