SCVi 1st and 2nd Graders Explore the Wonders of Flight

Our 1st and 2nd graders have been exploring the wonders of flight. Last week, Mrs. Crystal’s 1st and 2nd graders enjoyed talking with iLEAD California Director of STEAM Initiatives Kathleen Fredette about biomimicry (the imitation of natural biological designs or processes in engineering or invention) and how it is connected to flight. They discussed the types of birds that are like gliders, and the learners taught Mrs. Kathleen that a dandelion seed burr can float up to five miles!
