Staff Spotlight: Cheryl Sena

Cheryl Sena hails from Boston, MA., and is a founding facilitator at SCVi. In December she celebrated 10 years working for SCVi. She’s taught every grade from 6-12th, and even braved a year of preschool. She’s currently facilitating 12th grade English, Internships, and is the senior class advisor.

Ms. Sena wields a purple pen and spends time nurturing her learners’ inner writer. As a child, she wrote mini-novels until the red ink marks on her papers made her turn from writing for 20 years. Her goal is to help all learners find their inner reader and writer.

An avid reader, Ms. Sena polishes off at least one novel a week. Recently, she’s picked up a knitting hobby while watching Netflix or Hallmark movies as a way to sharpen her saw. Ms. Sena is also an inspiring author and writer, and is currently editing two novels in her spare time.

Cheryl has been married to her college sweetheart, Peter, for 26 years. She earned both a BA and MA from their alma mater, Hofstra University. She’s proud that both her daughters have attended SCVi since elementary. Her eldest daughter, Gabby, graduated SCVi last year, and is currently attending NYU, living in the heart of New York City. Bella is a sophomore and has been at SCVi since first grade and acted in SCVi’s Theater production of “The Laramie Project,” in November.
