Staff Spotlight: Kevin Becker

Star Wars RULES! Well, now that we got the most important thing out of the way, Upper School English Facilitator Kevin Becker is a Cleveland, Ohio, native who moved to California in 2011. Kevin graduated from Baldwin Wallace University with a BA in Theater and has been sharing that passion with kids and adults for many years!

Kevin is a proud nerd (surprise!) who has a strong love of Star Wars, Marvel, and the Harry Potter universe (Ravenclaw! True Blue!). He is so nerdy he even goes to San Diego Comic-Con every year!

Kevin joined SCVi in 2015 and has been proud of the work he’s been able to do with his learners. A constant supporter of social-emotional learning and teaching the whole child, Kevin knew he found a good fit on his first day. He has taught in many settings, but has found a home in Upper School English and Theater. Last year, he directed Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream as well as assisting on Little Shop of Horrors and The Sound of Music. This year, he and the learners have decided to tackle The Laramie Project and bring a new type of theatrical experience to SCVi.

Kevin can also be found performing around town, most recently in Don’t Hug Me and The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) at the Canyon Theater Guild. Kevin graduated from the Improv Comedy program and Upright Citizens Brigade and performed with various improv comedy troupes in Hollywood for a few years.
