Staff Spotlight: Kris Nilsen

Kris Nilsen works as the upper school Academic/College/Career advisor. Kris grew up in the San Fernando Valley and graduated from California State University, Northridge, with a BA in Sociology, Criminology and Corrections, and a MA in Education with an Administrative Credential. She also attended Cal State Long Beach and graduated with a MA in Social Work and received a PPS Credential.

She worked for the Department of Children and Family Services as a Family Reunification Case Worker for 2 years. Kris worked for Pinecrest Schools for 18 years before they closed their doors in 2016.

Kris lives in Simi Valley with her husband of more than 25 years and two daughters, ages 16 and 20. She has found her passion as a high school counselor and enjoys visiting college campuses across the United States. She is currently finishing her College Counseling Certificate from UCLA. Her favorite show is Law and Order, and she is known around campus as “Sparkle Fairy” for her positive attitude and sparkly clothing. Kris has found her dream job and loves coming to work every day and talking with learners about their futures!
