Why Is the Scarlet Foundation Important to SCVi Charter School?

Scarlet Foundation

Dear SCVi Charter School Families,

As you may know, the Scarlet Foundation is SCVi’s parent-run 501(c)(3) fundraising and community-building organization. What that means is that any money donated to the school or to specific, select programs or projects at the school goes through Scarlet so it can be properly accounted for and so that donors can get a valuable tax write-off for their donations.

While this is important, you may wonder what else Scarlet does for SCVi and why it’s important.

In addition to freeing up SCVi’s iSupport parent volunteers to focus on planning, Scarlet sponsors many of the wonderful events and community-building activities our families love. Through those events, Annual Giving, and our popular Step It Up campaign last year, our community raised $65,000, which allowed us to do the following:

  • Plant 15 new shade trees along the K-1 Yard and Sports Field for SPF Phase 1 Campaign.
  • Fund the design, permitting, and building of shade structures for our learners’ outdoor play areas for SCVi’s SPF Phase 2 Campaign.
  • Provide working capital and sponsor the Annual Vision in Education Benefit dinner.
  • Provide funds for storage sheds for SCVi’s Theater and Sports Programs.
  • Provide working capital for SCVi’s Field Studies program.
  • Provide working capital for SCVi Spirit Wear.
  • Provide funding for musical instruments for SCVi’s Music Program.
  • Fund the SCVi – iLEAD Exploration Program’s end-of-year event.
  • Coordinate and sponsor Pizza Fridays.

We are thrilled with what our community was able to achieve together last year and, importantly, what we were able to fund for all of our learners. Our hats are off to you!

This year, based on the priorities given to us by the school’s administration, facilitators, and families, we are setting our sights even higher.

Our fundraising goal for the 2019-2020 school year is $85,000.

The bulk of this will go toward updating technology so we can get closer to a 1:1 ratio for our learners. Of course, Scarlet will continue to focus on community-building and meeting the many other needs of our community as well.

We are proud to serve the SCVi community and look forward to continuing to grow our capacity to provide for our learners for years to come, and we thank you for all you do!

Sincerely,

The Scarlet Foundation
