Dear SCVi Families,
Happy New Year and welcome back! We hope each of you had a restful and meaningful time with your family and friends during the Winter Break.
As we begin the second semester, we want to remind our families of our vision. As educators, we are thankful for all opportunities to impact young lives. Our learners are the reason we’re here. We value and encourage the development of leadership skills by inspiring confidence and character in each of our unique learners.
For our learners to succeed, they must feel at home in the world. This requires a strong academic foundation as well as social-emotional development. We believe there is an implicit, as well as an explicit, curriculum to teach, and our goal is nothing short of shaping learners who change the world. We want our learners to gain a deep understanding of the curriculum as well as independent critical-thinking and collaborative skills.
We want our learners to be successful and to persevere. We want them to continue to excel in their ILP goals, and we hope to inspire kind and compassionate why-sayers, because these traits will continue to grow in them for years to come. We thank you for allowing us the opportunity to be a part of your child’s learning experience.
As always, our leadership team has been working diligently behind the scenes to ensure that your learner has access to all these opportunities to grow here at SCVi. Many of you have attended our parent forums where we’ve shared the following information about our leadership team, and we want to introduce ourselves here as well.
Kathya Arriaran-Buono, Ed.D, is our Upper School Director of Curriculum and Instruction. She is new to the SCVi team and comes to us with over 10 years of leadership experience. If you have any questions or concerns regarding grades 6-12, she is your go-to person.
Nessa Roffredo is our Lower School Director and is your contact for any concerns regarding grades TK-5.
Tina Toval remains our Leadership Resident and is available to address questions regarding TK-8.
Nicole Padovich has transitioned from Upper School Director to School Director of Culture and Operations. In this new role, she oversees whole-school programs and operations. Mrs. Padovich is available to talk with you about all school-related issues.
Farnaz Kaufman has transitioned from Head of School to an exciting role as Director of Global Educational Initiatives for iLEAD. In this capacity, she supports the growth of our international programs, such as Science Accelerator, Cultural Bridges, and Backpacks Full of Hope.
As you are well aware, we work with a fantastic team of dedicated facilitators and staff members, and you may continue to reach out to any of us anytime. We look forward to connecting with you this semester as we continue to work together to give each of our young leaders extraordinary opportunities to learn and grow.
Sincerely,
The SCVi Leadership Team
