Staff Spotlight: Megan Tapia

This is Megan’s sixth year at SCVi! Starting as a Care Team aide, she moved to being an Upper School Facilitator, eventually finding her true calling as a K/1 facilitator! She loves working with the littles, and her own education has an emphasis in elementary education. She has worked in other classrooms before, but really enjoys SCVi’s philosophy and culture, and loves all the kids she’s worked with both present and past!

She has a passion for mindfulness in the classroom and in her life. After completing courses with Mindfulness Schools, she practices mindfulness in her classroom (and personally) daily, and has seen a great improvement in classroom culture. The implementation of mindfulness in her classrooms has greatly benefited her learners, and herself. She’s a strong believer that any child, at any age, can practice mindfulness, and that we all need a gentle to reminder to be present in the moment. She continues her own mindfulness education, so she can help build learners who are more compassionate, understanding and happy. She can’t wait to keep growing!

When she’s not at work, you can find her at home with her cat, her husband, and her three chickens! She loves the beach, being in the ocean, spending time with her family, and finding quiet moments in everyday life!
