Thank you to all those that were able to make it out to the Fall Festival. It was a great turnout, and a great big THANK YOU to all the volunteers who put in overtime to help bring this wonderful event to fruition.
Mid-October can often be a time where we notice learners begin to feel overwhelmed. Our high school learners are juggling college applications, project deadlines, and IB deadlines. Our lower school learners are learning to deep dive into projects and beginning to understand what Grit means. As we jump back into projects and school activities, we can remind our learners of Stephen Covey’s Habit 3: Put First Things First.
“Put First Things First” means to decide what is most important and to take care of that first. Thinking about what needs to be done tomorrow or by the end of the week can be overwhelming, especially for children.
A planner is a great tool for any age by writing down their responsibilities and planning ahead. If your child does not use a planner, then a simple checklist could work. This could simply be a piece of paper that is used each week.
A great conversation starter is to ask your child what they think their biggest distraction is and brainstorming ways to Put First things First so that they can get the big rocks completed and still leave some time for those desired “distractions.”
We are here to help if you have any questions. Thank you, and make it a great week!
Warm Regards,
Nicole Padovich, Director of Operations and School Culture
